I Love You

In the ground I grind out
A beat with my teeth
Through my feet

The earth reverberates
Or is it me
Controlling how the dirt

Eats my stamping
When I feel I’m dancing
In the stone hearth

Of a forest
We cut down
Years ago

Like my heartstrings
It’s strong and steady
But frayed

After years of untangling
Detangling, unraveling
I sit

In the sticky mess
In this forest
I call my heart

I wonder at it’s strange beauty
And how it calls to me at night
How I still don’t understand it

How it makes me bite
The insides of my cheeks
In frustration, in laughter

Sometimes it repeats
One phrase,
Over and over

The whispers thread through
The rushes of valves
and chambers. It says –

I love you
I love you
I love you

Hey there. My name is Ash. Whenever I feel lost or confused, I write. This blog is a project in releasing the poetry I would have kept locked up inside, otherwise. It's pronounced 'LOU-lah-NA.' Enjoy your visit!
