Covering Your Teeth

My skin is inhaling hope

Through pores that

Have known too much

Contempt

When the sun rises

I see your name

And I take

The syllables of

Your breath

To my prayers

I ask for protection

And light that rests

As it must, instead

Of going dark

We are a part

Of a living death

Of a death that loves

In the dark

My skin is inhaling hope

The way worshippers

Worship the pope

Except the key

To my rest

Are the strips

Of skin

Covering your

Teeth

Hey there. My name is Ash. Whenever I feel lost or confused, I write. This blog is a project in releasing the poetry I would have kept locked up inside, otherwise. It's pronounced 'LOU-lah-NA.' Enjoy your visit!
